Getting Started with the Civic Online Reasoning Curriculum

Want to teach students online reasoning skills but not sure where to begin? Our curriculum collections provide lesson sequences to get started. All of our materials are free to use and are delivered via Google Docs, making them easy to integrate into distance learning platforms.

With our Intro Lessons collection, students read social media posts, blogs, and news articles about mandatory Saturday school to learn what questions they should always ask about online content.

Our Teaching Lateral Reading collection guides students through how to investigate who’s behind information online by using skills employed by professional fact checkers.

“A Little Of Everything” introduces students to the three questions at the heart of our curriculum—Who’s behind the information? What’s the evidence? What do other sources say?—and gives them opportunities to practice civic online reasoning skills.
